The building contractors at on Thursday unveiled their new offices at the Culver Building on the corner of Southwest 12th Avenue and Alder Street.

The company’s marketing director, Janice Westcott, said a team from Lease Crutcher Lewis and basically took the 92-year-old building apart and put it back together again, adding a third floor for executive offices. In the process, the entire second floor was removed and replaced with a new joist floor system.

Lease Crutcher Lewis leases the building from Downtown Development Group. The building was a parking garage before the renovation project. Before that, it was used by a glass company and for other light industrial uses. Westcott said seismic upgrades included new moment frame, helical piles and drag connections at new concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls.

She added that 3,500 lineal feet of wood was salvaged during demolition and reused during the project, and 91 percent of construction waste was diverted from the landfill.

The project is pursuing a LEED silver rating, Westcott told visitors at an open house and tour at the renovated building.

Until moving into their new quarters, Lease Crutcher Lewis employees worked out of the Galleria building at Southwest Ninth Avenue and Morrison Street, where the company is renovating the space for a new Target outlet.
