The Ladd Carriage House, a 129-year-old structure that was built to house the horses and carriages of Portland entrepreneur and banker William Sargent Ladd, is being renovated. is converting the Victorian building into a pub-like restaurant, . Almost all of the work is being performed on the interior, including new walls, floors, ceilings and finishes, as well as two custom-made bars. The project’s designer is , who also designed a 2009 exterior renovation of the building. Work began in late July and is expected to finish by mid-December.
