Some of the most distinguished architects in the world will be traveling to Portland as part of a Portland State University lecture series.

The series, put on by the university’s department of architecture, started last month when Dan Wood, co-founder of global design firm WORKac, gave a lecture about urban planning. WORKac has received several American Institute of Architects merit awards and won the 2010 New York Design Commission award.

Lectures will continue once a month for the next five months. The next will be tonight and will feature Irish architects Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey, founders of O’Donnell and Tuomey Architects, which has also won multiple design awards.

Other architects to be featured include Kevin Daly, co-founder of Daly Genik Architects, which won the AIA’s firm of the year in 2009, and Tim Ingold, fellow of the British Academy and the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
