ARCHITECTURE

BBT Architects, based in Bend, recently added Matt Appleby as a project architect and Tyson Staab as an intern.

Appleby previously was a project architect for Steele Associates. He also was an architect for a couple of Seattle firms 鈥� Stricker Cato Murphy Architects and Koppe | Wagoner Architects. He has 17 years of experience. With BBT, Appleby will lead projects from design through construction.

Staab received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in architecture from the University of Oregon. He served as an apprentice at MBH Architects in Alameda, Calif. With BBT, he will be involved with 3-D renderings and technical support.

ENGINEERING

Charles Duncan recently was promoted to president of West Yost Associates Inc., an employee-owned civil engineering consulting firm. He joined West Yost in 1997 and has served as a project manager, office manager, vice president, and most recently as chief operating officer. As president, he will lead operations and management of the firm鈥檚 six California offices and its office in Eugene. He also will continue to serve as a principal and manager for engineering, planning and design projects. He has more than 22 years of civil engineering consulting experience.

SURVEYING

MacKay Sposito recently added Allison Jones as a GIS (geographic information systems) specialist in its survey group. She is working out of the firm鈥檚 corporate office in Vancouver, Wash. She is on target to graduate with a Master of Science degree in GIS and geography from Portland State University in 2013.

ENGINEERING

WHPacific recently added Robert Berman as executive director of sales and marketing, Brad Chastain as vice president of natural resources and energy and Lucy Boyd as executive assistant to President Bob Macomber. The firm also appointed Mark Burson to safety officer, Tom Jones to operations manager of the Portland office and Lynn Iaquinta to operations manager of the Salem office. In addition, Hal Keever was promoted to chief operations officer.

Berman has more than 20 years of experience in managing and implementing sales, marketing and business development initiatives for corporations.

Chastain is the former president of Sivuniq, which in October was absorbed into WHPacific.

Boyd is a former employee and shareholder of NANA Regional Corp. She is an accounting specialist, and has executive support skills.

Burson previously was the health and safety representative for Sivuniq and PSC Environmental Services. He also has experience training in HSSE (Health Safety Security Environment) best practices.

Jones has more than 30 years of management, planning and design experience, and knows how to handle development projects in urban areas. He has worked collaboratively to facilitate work by multi-disciplinary project teams.

Iaquinta has more than 25 years of major project and program experience. She has led multimillion-dollar design-build projects and teams 鈥� including bridge work 鈥� throughout her career.

Keever has 30 years of management experience with WHPacific. He has overseen operations in the firm鈥檚 Pacific Northwest offices and managed projects for private and public agencies and companies.

LAW

Sarah J. Crooks, a partner in Perkins Coie鈥檚 Portland office, last month received the 2012 Judge Edwin Peterson Professionalism Award from the Oregon State Bar Association. The award is given to 鈥渁ttorneys who publicly and consistently demonstrate integrity, honesty and willing compliance with the letter and spirit of the law, with the rules of the court, with the highest ethical standards, and with professional standards stated in the OSB Statement of Professionalism.鈥� Crooks practices complex litigation, and dedicates time to pro bono work and volunteer efforts to serve the legal community.
