ARCHITECTURE

Holst Architecture recently promoted Kevin Valk to senior associate. In 16 years with the firm, he has designed and/or managed dozens of projects, including the award-winning BridgePort Brewery and Hotel Modera, as well as the Sunrose Condominiums. Currently, he is working on Karuna II, an office development on North Williams Avenue.

CONSTRUCTION

S.D. Deacon Corp. of Oregon recently promoted Brian Sabom to operations manager. Also, Anita Jain was promoted to division manager of Remco Deacon of Oregon.

Sabom joined the firm in 2006 as a project engineer, and has since served as a project coordinator and project manager. He began his construction career in 2003 as a carpenter’s apprentice for a Bay Area general contractor.

Jain has managed several signature projects since joining the firm in 2006. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the construction industry.

CONSTRUCTION

Walsh Construction Co. recently added Sharon Libby as quality assurance manager. She has 15 years of experience in the construction industry. Her duties include: reviewing building plans, specifications and details for constructability and quality assurance during the design phase, as well as facilitating coordination of plans, specifications and details for quality assurance and quality control during the construction phase.

ENGINEERING

Nick Robertson recently became a civil/industrial facilities division manager for OBEC Consulting Engineers. He was hired as a project engineer in 2006. He specializes in heavy civil and structural engineering projects, often collaborating with leading engineers on water and wastewater infrastructure projects. He recently has worked on a number of reservoir, water supply and bridge design projects, as well as inspections, rehabilitations and retrofits of existing structures. He also is integrally involved in strategic planning for OBEC.

FINANCE

Sterling Bank recently named Chris Antrim vice president and manager of its new downtown Portland branch at 530 S.W. Fifth Ave. He has served Sterling for four years, previously as a retail sales consultant.

REAL ESTATE

Jones Lang LaSalle recently named Sean McCarthy, a specialist in industrial and flex properties, vice president of its Portland office. McCarthy previously spent eight years as an associate vice president with Kidder Mathews. He has completed industrial property transactions totalling more than 3 million square feet with a total consideration exceeding $60 million and sales transactions with a total value more than $11 million.

REAL ESTATE

Rhys Konrad recently joined the brokerage team at Macadam Forbes. He will specialize in sales and leasing of office and industrial/flex properties. He has been involved in the Portland-metro commercial real estate market since 2005. His background is in owner/landlord representation in land development and entitlements in a variety of project types and sizes.

CONSTRUCTION

Sam Yaghmaie recently joined WHPacific as a construction manager in its office in Bothell, Wash. He has more than 29 years of experience providing project management, construction management, business development, design peer review, client management, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification and materials engineering. Prior to joining WHPacific, he held positions with CDM Smith Inc. and Harris & Associates.

ENGINEERING

Andrew Enriquez recently joined WRK Engineers as a project engineer. He has more than seven years of experience in structural analysis and design. At WRK, he will focus on commercial and seismic strengthening projects.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Raymond James Tax Credit Funds, a national syndicator of affordable housing, announced recently that it is opening a new office in Portland, with Dan Wendle as vice president and director of acquisitions. He will spearhead property acquisition efforts in the Pacific Northwest, Northern California, Nevada and New Mexico. He spent the past 13 years leading such efforts in the Pacific Northwest for National Equity Fund, a nonprofit low-income housing tax credit syndication company.

PLANNING

Bridget Wieghart recently was named a senior supervising planner in the Portland office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global infrastructure strategic consulting, planning, engineering and program/construction management organization. She will be responsible for complex transit, multimodal, congestion pricing and freight transportation planning projects in the Northwest.  She is a project manager with 27 years of experience in planning and development of transportation and economic development projects. Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, she managed transit, multimodal corridor and freight planning at Metro.
