Recently, Timothy J. Resch was appointed new managing partner and Christine Costantino became a partner with Samuels Yoelin Kantor LLP.

Resch, who joined the firm in 1996, is a civil litigator with domestic and international expertise. He assumed his new responsibilities Jan. 1, 2013, when Alan M. Spinrad’s term concluded. Resch’s practice emphasizes employment law advice and litigation, primarily for small businesses and medical professionals. He also advises clients on responses to claims filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. He routinely deals with noncompetition agreements and trade secret matters for employers.

Costantino will expand the firm’s areas of expertise with her emphasis on family law. Her practice focuses on legal issues involving families and family-owned businesses, including dissolution of marriage and registered domestic partnerships; prenuptial and domestic partner agreements; contested custody, child and spousal support; grandparents’ rights, and other family-related legal matters. She also specializes in contested guardianships and conservatorships, as well as trust litigation.

Sarah J. Ryan and Yael Livny recently joined the Portland office of Jackson Lewis LLP.

Ryan is a partner. Her practice focuses on employment law and complex commercial litigation. She previously was in private practice for more than 25 years and chaired the Labor and Employment practice of a large general law firm. She has advised clients and litigated employment claims regarding harassment, discrimination and retaliation, intellectual property protection, wage and hour, and breach of contract issues.

Livny is an associate. Her practice focuses on labor and employment law and litigation. Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate at large, general practice law firms, where she focused on business litigation and internal investigations and monitoring.

ENGINEERING

Northwest Engineering Service Inc. recently added Phillip Huntington and Aibin Liu as commissioning professionals. Also, NESI employees Dennis Conser and Vince Sage achieved their Energy Management Professional Certification.

Huntington, commissioning authority/project manager, has 19 years of industry experience – with 13 years focused on building system testing, adjusting, balancing and commissioning. His knowledge also covers HVAC installation, repair and service for commercial, industrial and residential markets. Prior to joining the private sector, Huntington was an interior communications electrician, third class, and gyrocompass technician in the United States Navy.

Liu, commissioning/energy engineer, has 12 years of experience with a focus on commercial HVAC design, energy calculations and 2D + 3D modeling. She is a licensed professional engineer in Ohio and is awaiting her Oregon registration.

Conser and Sage passed an exam that is open to ACG-certified commissioning authorities with demonstrated experience in energy management and existing building commissioning.

Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association board member board member Beth Bagley last month was elected to the Deschutes County Circuit Court. She is the first elected Asian Pacific American judge and the first APA woman to take the bench in Deschutes County. She served with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office for over 10 years.

NONPROFIT

Laura K. Lee Dellinger recently was elected chairwoman and MaryBeth Cruz was elected trustee of Trillium Family Services’ board of trustees. Dellinger is a principal and senior executive vice president for Metropolitan Group. Cruz is executive director of physician services and development for Providence Health & Services.

In addition, Troy T. Hall was elected chairman and Rob Fogarty was elected trustee of the Trillium Family Services Foundation’s board of trustees. Hall is director of claims management for Knowledge Universe. Fogarty is an account executive with Kobos Coffee.

Trillium Family Services, a community benefit organization, provides mental health services for children and families.

NONPROFIT

The 2013 executive board for Main Street Oregon City Inc. includes President Paul Culp, owner of SuperGenius Animation Studios; Vice President Tim Tofte, property owner; Secretary Barbara Orton, a property owner and co-owner of Commstructure Consulting; Treasurer Mike Gavaza, owner of MJ Gavaza CPA. The board also includes Sue Stein, a liaison to the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce; Carol Pauli, a liaison to the city of Oregon City; and Jarred Justice, a liaison to a large employment base downtown. A cultural liaison board seat is vacant. MSOC Inc. is a volunteer-led nonprofit focused on revitalizing historic downtown Oregon City.
