ARCHITECTURE

LRS Architects recently promoted Janice Goo to senior associate and Jason Tand to associate.

Goo joined the firm in 2003. She is a member of the LRS housing studio, and her portfolio also includes hospitality, medical, commercial and retail.

Tand joined the firm in 2006. His portfolio includes a wide variety of project types, including government buildings, retail and mixed-use developments, commercial office buildings, multifamily and specialty housing, educational facilities and corporate offices, as well as industrial manufacturing and recreational projects.

ARCHITECTURE

Ankrom Moisan Architects recently added Erin Couch as a senior health care architect. She has 28 years of experience in health care architecture, most recently as an associate and project manager at Clark/Kjos Architects.

MULTI-DISCIPLINE

CIDA Architects & Engineers recently promoted Dustin Johnson, Kourtney Strong and Chris Walker to associate and Mya Paluch to director of interior design. Strong, Walker and Paluch have been with CIDA since 2004 and Johnson has been with the firm since 2005.

Johnson, heads CIDA’s sustainability efforts, and provides insight on all projects. His project experience includes work in aviation, remodels and industrial.

Strong has experience in industrial and food processing projects, and recently led project additions in both industries as well as several general office tenant improvements.

Walker’s experience includes nonprofits, industrial business and commercial with recent work in trucking, land-acquisition feasibilities and water remediation services.

Paluch directs interior design and space planning on CIDA’s projects. She has experience in medical/dental projects in addition to general office design.

PLANNING

Cogan Owens Cogan LLC recently promoted Ellen Wyoming to full-time associate. She has experience in urban and community planning, community involvement with diverse groups of people, and culturally-appropriate organization and facilitation. She focuses on the intersection of planning and economic opportunity. She is presently working on a tsunami preparedness guide for Oregon coastal communities, as well as research affecting coastal estuaries. Both projects are for the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development. She also is assisting the public involvement process for a voluntary annexation strategy for south Hillsboro, and on a neighborhood and green infrastructure planning project for the Tulalip tribes in Washington.

BUSINESS

The Oregon State Senate recently confirmed Gov. John Kitzhaber’s nomination of Tom Tsuruta as a new Port of Portland commissioner. He is a professor and executive in residence at Marylhurst University, and also serves as a senior adviser to Aeon Co. Ltd., a $60 billion-a-year global retail conglomerate based in Tokyo. Tsuruta will replace Ken Allen, who has served on the commission since 2004. The nine-member commission sets port policy during its monthly meetings.

ENGINEERING

The Oregon chapter of the American Public Works Association recently honored Washington County Operations and Maintenance Division Senior Engineer Todd Watkins as its William A. Bowes Award winner for 2012. The award, the chapter’s highest honor, recognizes public works leaders for their influential and positive impacts on public works programs, services and policies. Watkins has worked for the county since 1998, and joined the operations and management division in 2004.

LAW

Laura Maffei, a shareholder in the Portland office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, recently was elected to serve as the 2013 chairwoman of the Oregon State Bar’s environmental and natural resources section. Its purpose is to provide high-quality legal education, and a forum to discuss this fast-changing area of law. Maffei focuses her practice on environmental and natural resource law.  She has extensive experience with Clean Water Act permitting and litigation, environmental cleanup projects, and environmental due diligence in Oregon and Washington.

REAL ESTATE

Atlantic & Pacific Real Estate promoted Charles J. Turner to assistant vice president, broker/manager of its Portland office. He joined the office in November 2011, and was a top producer in 2012 – with a sales volume exceeding $25 million. Before that, he ranked among the top 3 percent of all Prudential Real Estate agents in the U.S. (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010).
