My group, Group 3, is doing the art building add-on and has it been hectic! My group is extremely creative, so we have a lot of fun ideas, which might be a problem when it comes to the budget. But for now it’s really fun to give extravagant ideas when we are making bubble diagrams and floor plans.

We have thought of everything from glass sky bridges, sunken auditoriums, eco-roofs, outdoor theaters, light-up walkways, archways for the courtyard, and projection screens outside.

We are all very good about taking each other’s ideas into consideration. I was surprised with how many great minds we have and how open-minded everyone is to other opinions and ideas. We all build off each other and work together to make great ideas.

The best idea so far is a sunken performance area. We really like the idea, and we have sketched it up many times. I think next meeting we will really figure out the logistics and make it happen.

Every time we go to ZGF Architects in the Mackenzie building, I am in awe. I would love to eventually work in a building like that. The architecture is so clean and simple.

I am loving my first couple weeks of the ACE Mentor Program.
