An $80 million highway project in Woodburn has garnered the final piece of funding necessary for construction to begin.

The Oregon House of Representatives on Thursday passed Senate Bill 258, which moves $10 million in surplus money from the Beltline interchange project in Eugene to the Interstate 5 interchange project in Woodburn.

The project will take place at the intersection of Oregon routes 214 and 219, and is intended to improve traffic flow in and out of Woodburn. It also includes construction of a new transit facility. Work is scheduled to start this summer.

SB 258 also will transfer surplus money to a Baker County project, and direct the Oregon Transportation Commission to move any leftover money from the U.S. Route 26/Glencoe project to the U.S. Route 26/Shute Road project.

The bill now is awaiting Gov. John Kitzhaber’s signature.
