The focus of our ACE session this week was on our unique addition in our building. Unanimously, we decided that our building needed a “viewing room” atop our entry.

Our building is primarily a one-story facility. We included a wood shop, a metal shop, bathrooms, offices, storage areas and digital media classrooms on the lower level. By putting all the main rooms on the lower level, these subjects are highlighted as the main focus of the building. We wanted to make our building stand out, though, so we chose to add the viewing room to our otherwise simplistic yet utilitarian design.

Our viewing room is the only accessible room on the second level. A teammate and I worked on the floor plan of our envisioned viewing room, and we shared our ideas with the rest of the group toward the end of the session. We were very pleased with our design because it took cooperation to work on, and our team was on board with most of our ideas.
