ARCHITECTURE
Hennebery Eddy Inc. recently added Joe Broders, Allison Elliott, Ian Gelbrich, Megan Jacobs, Carin Carlson, Ian McNairy, Kristin Slavin and Dawn Viar to its staff.

Broders has three years of experience rooted in residential design, including two recent projects at Hennebery Eddy – a multifamily project for the Ivy Club Apartments and the Ash+Ash residence, for which a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design platinum rating is being pursued.

Elliott has four years of experience. Her ability to distill and organize complex information was crucial for work on the GSA Solomon Courthouse exterior sandstone study and the Hatfield Courthouse Building design standards report.

Gelbrich is a licensed architect with 15 years of experience in projects such as public safety, general office and performing arts facilities. Recently, he has worked on projects for Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and the Shaver Street Apartments.

Jacobs recently graduated from Saint Louis University with a communications degree; she specialized in public relations and advertising. As office administrator, she is providing administrative support, coordinating office presentations and assisting marketing efforts.

Carlson is an architect and preservationist with more than 10 years of experience working with historic buildings. She has conducted historical research and condition assessments, and has prepared guidance documents for a variety of resource types.

McNairy has designed and coordinated retail and residential projects. His communication skills and level-headed nature have proven especially useful in coordinating projects and working with consultants.

Slavin has two years of experience, including work on large, complex projects. She understands how to efficiently manage time and resources to adapt to changing project goals.

Viar has 10 years of experience working on programming and space planning for a range of project types. Her work on multifamily projects and academic buildings will be put to use for Hennebery Eddy’s interior design team.

FINANCE
Columbia Credit Union recently promoted Carol McCaulley to senior vice president of human resource development and legal counsel, and Wendy Smith to vice president of enterprise risk.

McCaulley is replacing Dee Anne Cloke, who will retire in July after 23 years of service. McCaulley will oversee human resource functions, with focus on personnel policy development, performance appraisal programs and employee benefits. She also will provide advice and counsel on a variety of legal matters – primarily employment law.

Smith will coordinate all internal and independent auditors’ efforts related to loss prevention and recovery objectives. In addition, she will oversee compliance, loss prevention and internal audit departments, as well as maintain an enterprise risk management program to ensure the credit union’s optimal long-term performance.

LAW
The Portland office of Miller Nash LLP recently added Faustina Ash and Aimee Baxter to its paralegal staff. They will provide support to the firm’s litigation teams.

Ash will focus primarily on employment and education law. She has 20 years of experience in the legal field, including complex business and bankruptcy litigation at both the state and federal levels.

Baxter has expansive knowledge and experience in construction defect and insurance defense. She excels in electronic discovery and database management, and has vast amounts of trial experience in both Oregon and Washington.

CONSULTING
GRI, a full-service geotechnical, geological and hazmat consulting firm headquartered in Beaverton, recently added Wes Spang, Chris Ell, Tadesse Meskele and Jason Bock to its team.

Spang joins the firm as a principal based in Beaverton. He also is an adjunct professor at Portland State University, where he teaches courses in slope stability and geotechnical earthquake engineering. Prior to joining GRI, he started Geocon Northwest’s Portland office and managed it for 14 years.

He has more than 25 years of geotechnical engineering experience; he often has focused on deep foundations, retaining structures, health care and institutional buildings, seismic engineering and slope stability.

Ell, a senior geotechnical engineer, is managing the firm’s new branch office in Brookings. He has 12 years of experience with public and private projects involving deep foundations, retaining structures, landslide stabilization and seismic design.

Meskele joins GRI as a staff engineer. He recently obtained his doctorate in geotechnical engineering from Oregon State University and has conducted extensive geotechnical engineering research and lectured at OSU, Portland State University, the University of Connecticut, and Arba Minch University (Ethiopia).

Bock joins GRI as a staff engineer. He will obtain his master’s degree in civil engineering from Portland State University this spring. He has seven years of experience in a broad range of projects, including education, health care and industrial settings.
