A building in the Cully neighborhood of Northeast Portland is being deconstructed by Jim Paulson Excavating Inc. and Habitat for Humanity‘s Building Materials Recovery program to make way for a new park. The 5,000-square-foot maintenance building and an attached 900-square-foot office were formerly used by utilities contractor Werbin West Contracting Inc. The 2.4-acre property at Northeast 52nd Avenue and Alberta Street was purchased in 2009 by Portland Parks & Recreation.

Lumber taken from the 66-year-old maintenance building will be sold at the Habitat for Humanity Restore, while old growth structural beams will remain at the site and be incorporated into the park’s design.
