Multnomah County commissioners unanimously approved a proclamation that declared June 13th as an appreciation day for McEwen Gisvold LLP senior partner Dean Gisvold and SERA Architects founder Bing Sheldon. Combined, they have given more than 65 years of service on Central City Concern’s board. Both men are retiring from the board at the end of June. Gisvold has chaired monthly meetings for the agency over the past 26 years.

Gisvold and Sheldon both were driving forces behind the creation of Central City Concern, which began as Burnside Consortium with a mission of providing compassionate care for street alcoholics who frequented Portland’s Old Town Chinatown neighborhood.

Central City Concern’s mission is to provide comprehensive solutions to end homelessness and help individuals achieve self-sufficiency. The agency serves approximately 13,000 people yearly with health care, housing, peer support and employment.
