German American Society renovation complete

The German American Society of Portland has moved into its new Northeast Portland headquarters after nearly a year of renovations. The nonprofit organization purchased the 17,000-square-foot former Friendship Masonic Lodge at 5626 N.E. Alameda St. for $1.3 million and has spent nearly $4 million on renovation work, says vice president Hella Betts.
The remodel was designed by Nancy Merryman, principal at Merryman Barnes Architects, and performed by Brad Fouts and Fouts Construction Services, Inc.
