Pearl District building upgraded for Montessori school

Swinerton Builders is renovating a 7,975-square-foot Pearl District building at 1637 N.W. 14th Ave. for Childpeace Montessori School, which will use the space for instruction of its middle school students. Work on the 73-year-old building, which most recently was divided into three retail spaces, includes a full seismic upgrade, as well as demolition of demising walls, removal of insulation and vapor barriers, and new floors and finishes. The work is the first phase of a two-phase renovation expected to resume after classes dismiss next summer. Work on this portion of the Hennebery Eddy Architects-designed project is slated for completion before classes start in early September.
