A new multifamily development is being considered for a vacant parcel in Southwest Portland.

A group of property owners – including Real Estate Investment Group founders George Diamond and Michael Diamond –have submitted an early assistance application with the city of Portland for a four-story, 61-unit multifamily building at the northeast corner of Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Hooker Street. As envisioned, the project would include ground-floor commercial space and 25 surface parking stalls behind the building.

The group has enlisted Chris Spurgin and Francis Dardis of Portland-based Stack Architecture for the project. Neither the architects nor the owners could be reached for comment, but early renderings show a reddish-colored exterior with a material change on the top floor, arched window moldings, and a significant bump-out/projecting bay on the southwestern corner.

The property sits at the foot of Marquam Hill across the street from a large office building, and is otherwise surrounded by apartments and single-family homes.
