An expansion is underway for Rebound Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Clinic at the Rose Quarter. Gig Harbor, Wash.-based Rush Commercial is building the 1,500-square-foot MRI facility, which connects to Rebound via a small sky bridge. The structure, which will hold a 14,000-pund magnet , cantilevers approximately 20 feet in the air so as not to obstruct existing parking spaces. Work on the Surround Architecture, Inc.-designed project began in August and is slated for completion by the end of this year.

Gregg Wright, an installer with Chicago-based ETS Lindgren, carries a piece of silicon steel into the room where an MRI machine will be placed. The material is layered throughout the floor of the room in order to shield the magnetic field emanating from the machine.
