Crews are aiming to finish a $12 million to $14 million renovation of the U.S. Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland in April. After work wraps up, “Big Pink” will have a more usable space, a new tenant and a more modern flair, according to Ty Barker, general manager of Unico Properties, which owns and manages the building.

The focal point of the redesign is a two-story glass element picture framed by bamboo-grained wood, Barker wrote in an email.

“It will be the most prominent element as you enter the building from the south (Oak Street) entry,” he wrote. “The back side of this hub will have a cantilevered point that projects beyond the column by the lobby security desk. It will be a dramatic statement when complete.”

As part of the project, an approximately 65,000-square-foot third-floor space is being modified to house the headquarters of Webtrends, a digital marketing firm.

Turner Co. is overseeing the core and shell remodel work. Tualatin-based Russell Construction is overseeing tenant improvements for Webtrends, according to Barker.

The U.S. Bancorp Tower has 1.1 million square feet of office space – the most of any building in Portland. It continues to hold the regional headquarters of Minneapolis-based U.S. Bancorp.
