Ten Oregon University System capital construction projects that would cost about $84 million total will be reviewed by the State Board of Higher Education on Friday to determine which ones to put before the state Legislature for funding requests in February, according to Di Saunders, OUS communications director.

Three of the projects on the list are prioritized higher for funding because of immediate concerns tied to life and safety and critical deferred maintenance, Saunders said. Those include: a $1.1 million utility tunnel fix at the Oregon Institute of Technology, a $2.1 million utility tunnel repair at the University of Oregon and a $21.9 million seismic and deferred maintenance upgrade at Southern Oregon University’s McNeal Hall.

Other funding requests include:

• $20 million for Portland State University to renovate and expand its Graduate School of Education,

• $10 million for Oregon State University to improve accessibility and meet Americans with Disability Act requirements at its Corvallis campus,

• $9.5 million for UO to address critical deferred maintenance and seismic issues at Chapman Hall,

• $8.1 million for Western Oregon University to purchase the Oregon Military Academic Building (which ultimately will be used to create a state-of-the-art live-learn facility),

• $7.7 million for OSU-Cascades to complete design and construction of its first academic building on Bend’s west side,

• $2.3 million for OIT to replace its fire alarm system, and

• $1.4 million to supplement construction of WOU’s College of Education.
