A lecture at Portland State University by internationally acclaimed Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto is now scheduled for next month. Fujimoto, principal of Tokyo-based Sou Fujimoto Architects, originally planned to speak at PSU next week, but a conflict arose.

The free lecture will take place May 7 at 6 p.m. in Room 75 of Lincoln Hall at 1620 S.W. Park Ave.

Fujimoto, 41, often designs structures that employ latticework to offer a level transparency. He used this technique for the temporary Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London.

Fujimoto’s talk is part of the PSU School of Architecture‘s “Unclad” lecture series, which examines the long-standing industry debate whether to cover a building’s structural elements or leave them exposed.

The School of Architecture will host one more “Unclad” lecture this spring. David Heymann, an author and professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, will speak at PSU on May 15. His designs include George W. and Laura Bush’s Crawford, Texas home. In 2002, Heymann received the Texas Society of Architects‘ Award for Outstanding Educational Contributions.
