Clackamas Community College will place a $90 million bond measure on the Nov. 4 ballot.

The decision was announced Thursday during a meeting of the board of directors. Approximately one year was spent on community engagement, said Jim Huckestein, vice president of college services.

“They basically asked the public what they valued about the college and where they wanted the college to go in the next 50 years,” he said. “The community wanted affordable classes leading to university. They wanted training programs that lead to jobs.”

The planned projects would affect all three Clackamas Community College campuses, which serve more than 30,000 students. Major projects include: an industrial/technical learning center and a student services center at the Oregon City campus, a workforce development facility to replace a 61-year-old building on the Harmony campus near Clackamas Town Center, and classroom upgrades at the Wilsonville campus.

Other projects would improve electrical, HVAC, seismic, and health and safety systems at all campuses, according to Huckestein.

If voters were to approve the bond measure, design work would likely start soon thereafter, he said. would likely begin in June 2015.
