For Kelsy Ausland, providing her clients with the best experience possible is about more than bringing in a project on time and on budget. As the president and principal engineer at the Ausland Group, she strives to learn everything possible about each client, and then aligns her team to meet those unique business cultures. That approach, according to

Ausland, allows her firm to tackle projects with lower cost, faster delivery, lower risk and consistent quality. Ausland began developing her business approach as a student at Oregon State University, where she received degrees in civil engineering, and while studying environmental engineering at the University of Nottingham in Great Britain. In 1999, she began designing bridges, culverts and campgrounds for the Bureau of Land Management, and then joined Wiegand Engineers.

Ausland Group opened its doors in 2002. In its 12 years in business, the firm has compiled an impressive list of Southern Oregon-based projects, including a new 28,000-square-foot facility for Caldera Brewing in Ashland, a new performance garden for Britt Festivals in Jacksonville, and Gospel Rescue Mission’s campus in Grants Pass.

In her role at the Medford-based firm, Ausland leads land development and engineering efforts. Oregon State University recognized her engineering talent and business leadership in 2010 by presenting her with the Oregon Stater Award for outstanding early career achievement. Ausland’s community involvement includes positions as president and board member for Kairos, a team of professionals who partner with emotionally at-risk youth and their families, as well as a board seat with Britt Festivals, a nonprofit organization that holds an annual summer performing arts festival.
