Peg Malloy has dedicated a 30-year career to helping create housing for poor and underprivileged individuals as an integral part of developing urban planning. Her resume includes a position as a housing development specialist and planner for the Seattle Housing Authority, where she directed property acquisition and operated budgets for new construction and rehabilitation of low-income housing for people with special needs.

She helped found the Portland Housing Center in 1990. She has served as executive director of the organization since its inception, establishing the office and its procedures, developing services and leading the staff.

She has served on various committees and task forces focused on housing, including a position as chairwoman of the Housing and Community Development Commission and the National NeighborWorks Network.

She has developed and implemented lending programs, low-income housing development and planning programs, including a trust fund for rental assistance. Malloy holds a master’s degree in urban affairs and policy analysis from the New School for Social Research in New York City. She is a member of Class XII of The American Leadership Forum and was in the founding class of Achieving Excellence at Harvard University.

Malloy helped create the Community Alliance of Tenants and Ready to Rent, and served on the board of Regional Arts and Culture, the Charter Commission for the city of Portland. She facilitated fundraising to build a middle school for girls in Rwanda.

As a mentor, she has helped employees and volunteers find educational opportunities and advancement toward careers in public nonprofit organizations.
