General contractor Yorke & Curtis is building the shell of a commercial building in Southwest Portland’s Hillsdale neighborhood for Wardin Investment Company. The 7,056-square-foot building, designed by Richard Brown Architect, will contain four commercial spaces with mezzanines.
Work on the project began last summer and included demolition of an ice cream store and the foundation of a former gasoline station on the site. Due to soil contamination from the gas station and a groundwater issues, water on the site is being pumped into a storage tank and tested before being released back into the sewer.
The project also includes the a new parking lot, landscaping, utilities and trash enclosure, and is slated for completion in mid-February 2015.
