Oregon contractor receives national recognition

Springfield-based Olsson Industrial Electric recently received a national award, according to a news release.

The contractor late last month received a National Award of Excellence in Electrical Construction from the Independent Electrical Contractors trade association at the 57th annual IEC National Convention and Electric Expo in Baltimore. The award is given each year to recognize remarkable electrical projects in several categories.

Olsson Industrial Electric received the award for its participation on The Dalles Dam project, one that involved work on a fully energized location without interruption of power generation. The contractor was hired to complete a comprehensive modernization of the station service electrical distribution system.

IEC National Vice President and CEO Thayer Long called Olsson鈥檚 work on the dam 鈥渙utstanding,鈥 according to the news release.

鈥淏y allowing the dam to produce more power, Olsson Industrial Electric has ensured that the dam will run more efficiently and effectively, now and for the next 50 years,鈥 Long said.

The IEC has 53 chapters and represents nearly 3,000 members across the country.

Olsson Industrial Electric was founded in 1986 and has worked on projects such as the John Day Dam AWS and navigation lock and auxiliary water supply pump replacement projects, the Bonneville Dam station service upgrade, Santiam Sawmill new construction and the Seneca Sawmill biomass generator installation.
