Yost Grube Hall Architecture has been hired to design a new college campus in Cambodia.

The firm will serve as the design architect for the American University of Phnom Penh in partnership with a Cambodian architect of record, YGH spokeswoman Amy Winterowd said.

The university, founded in 2013, has a curriculum based on offerings at major universities in the U.S. Plans for the new campus include a library and resource center, computer and science laboratories, individual and group study spaces, indoor and outdoor dining facilities, meeting areas and a 250-seat auditorium.

The first phase of the project will involve design of a five-story university building with classrooms, a library and faculty offices to serve as the initial structure on campus, Winterowd said. Plans call for adding buildings in the future, she said.

Construction of the first campus building is scheduled to start in 2015, and the project is expected to take about two years to complete, Winterowd said.

YGH’s other international university work includes master plans for the University of Botswana and the American University of Afghanistan.
