ZGF Architects, until Feb. 1, is accepting applications from architecture students for a $10,000 scholarship and paid summer internship at one of the firm’s offices.
The Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architectural Scholarship Fund was started 12 years ago in honor of late founding principal Norm Zimmer. The scholarship is administered by the Oregon Community Foundation and awarded each spring to an architecture student, residing in the U.S., who in the fall will begin his or her final year in an accredited architectural program.
Applications for the scholarship must include a resume, portfolio with five examples of architectural design work, a one-page essay discussing the design intent of the work included and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or head of the architecture school the student is attending. Electronic submissions are preferred.
One scholarship recipient will be selected by March 1 based on criteria including the ability to produce quality architectural designs and dedication to personal development in the field of architecture. The $10,000 award will be transferred to the scholarship winner’s university in September.
An internship for the scholarship recipient this summer at one of ZGF’s six offices has a flexible start date. The location will be based on the firm’s workload at the time.
