Port of Portland officials are gearing up for the second phase of a $19.8 million project to add more shops and restaurants to the Portland International Airport.
The port earlier this month celebrated completion of work done over the past year to introduce 10 shops and restaurants at the airport. The new shops were part of the first phase of a concessions redevelopment project expected to continue through 2017.
Officials are now accepting proposals from the owners of more restaurants and shops interested in opening in the airport in the second phase, port spokesman Steve Johnson said. The plan is to select 16 proposals for new shops and restaurants to be constructed starting in 2016, he said.
The concessions redevelopment effort focuses on bringing Pacific Northwest and national brands to PDX. Among the 10 new restaurants built at the airport are Café Yumm!, Henry’s Tavern, Mo’s Seafood, Potbelly Sandwich Shop and The Country Cat at PDX.
