Equus Capital Partners Ltd. announced the sale of a seven-property, 1,829-unit multifamily portfolio with assets in the Portland, Seattle and Salt Lake City metropolitan statistical areas. The portfolio was sold Sept. 25 to TruAmerica, based in Los Angeles, for $255 million. The portfolio was 97 percent leased at the time of the sale.

Equus is one of the nation’s leading private equity real estate fund managers. Equus was represented by Jon Hallgrimson, Eli Hanicek, Frank Bosl, Carrie Kahn and Graham Taylor of for the Oregon and Washington assets. Greg Barratt and James Wadsworth of Berkadia represented Equus for the Salt Lake City asset.

The garden style communities are located in Wilsonville in Oregon; Lynnwood, Kent and Silverdale in Washington; and in downtown Salt Lake City. They were developed between 1982 and 1990. An affiliate of Equus acquired the properties in 2008 as part of an 11-property portfolio totaling over 3,000 units in the Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Dallas and Jacksonville, Fla. markets. All seven properties offer residents a mix of unit types and resort-style amenities in low-density settings.
