Beaverton-based Seabold Construction Company and Portland-based Pioneer Millworks have received recognition from US Builders Review.

Jay Coalman, Seabold’s vice president of operations, said the company was included in the 2015 Greenbuild Editor’s Choice because of its reputation as a green builder. Seabold in 2007 built the first residential Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design project in the western U.S. (the Clara Vista Townhomes, in Portland), according to the article.

鈥淭he project was awarded the LEED silver certification and incorporated a number of green features such as stormwater management through natural drainage swales at both sites with trench drains at the sidewalks,鈥� the article states. 鈥淭he project included upgraded site protection during construction to control erosion and sedimentation, and also implemented waste reduction, reuse and recycling programs.鈥�

Seabold, founded in 1984, has more than 50 full-time employees and is licensed in Oregon and seven other states. It was among about 40 companies from either the U.S. or Canada featured in the magazine’s special edition.

With offices in Portland and Farmington, New York, Pioneer employs about 60 people and caters to the needs of architects, designers and builders. General manager Jennifer Young said the company’s wood experts 鈥渟cour the earth鈥� to find reclaimed wood from different sources.

Jonathan Orpin, Pioneer’s founder and owner, said the company was also honored this month in Washington, D.C. with a Leadership Award from the for rescuing nearly 25 million board feet of old wood.
