Multiple Portland firms recently received MarCom awards, which are given annually by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals to firms in the U.S. and abroad.
Architecture firm Mackenzie won a platinum award for its redesigned website in the professional service category. The website also garnered the firm honorable mention in the website redesign category. Mackenzie received two gold awards for 鈥淭he Tom Mackenzie Story,鈥 a video about its founder, in the corporate image and self-promotion categories.
SET Creative won platinum awards in the brand experience and experiential marketing categories, and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance won platinum awards in the display ads category for homeowner testimonials.
The awards competition, according to , each year draws about 6,000 entries from around the world. The creative competition involves the 鈥渃oncept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs.鈥 Corporate marketing and communications departments, advertising agencies, public relations firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers are eligible to enter.
Jan Mason, director of marketing for Mackenzie, said the firm launched a major rebrand project in 2013, which led to the redesign of . The old site was static, she said, but now visitors will see 鈥渟trong visual images, comprehensive people profiles, downloadable PDFs and updates on the latest news from Mackenzie.鈥
Mackenzie relied on an outside consultant for the website’s redesign, Mason said, but all development and content production took place in-house.
鈥淚t was great validation, and to be able to get the award is pretty awesome,鈥 she said.
