  • Early assistance is pending for improvements to a section of the North Park Blocks bounded by Northwest Couch and Davis streets and Park and Eighth avenues. Proposed work includes replacing antiquated play equipment and playground surfacing, replacing walkways, and renovating existing ADA ramps and landings on the southwest and northeast corners of the site. The applicant and owner is Portland Parks & Recreation.
  • Early assistance is pending for the development of two new market-rate apartment buildings with 10 to 15 units each at 1329 N. Skidmore St. The project would include demolition of an existing duplex at the site and would seek to meet community design standards. The applicant is Ed Bruin of Edge Development, and the owner is Fern Valley Properties LLC.
  • A pre-application conference is sought to discuss a Type III design review for a new mixed-use tower on a vacant lot at 1116 S.W. Washington St. The applicant is Kip Storey of ZGF Architects, and the owner is Lot-306 LLC.
  • A pre-application conference is sought to discuss the Type III conditional use needed to run a marijuana grow facility at 4611 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. The applicant is Richard Plainfield, and the owner is BHHP LLC.
  • A pre-application conference is pending for Mt. Tabor Yard improvements, including a new shop/warehouse on the east side of the yard, and demolition of existing structures and some regrading, at 6325 S.E. Division St. The applicant is Susan Meamber of Portland Parks & Recreation, and the owner is the City of Portland.
  • A pre-application conference is requested for the modernization of Grant High School, located at 2245 N.E. 36th, and the addition of a softball field. The applicant is Catherine Corliss of Angelo Planning Group, and the owner is School District No. 1.
  • A Type II design review is sought for exterior alterations to an office building at 6840 S.W. Macadam Ave. Proposed improvements include extending the building toward the roadway and the addition of a new driveway. The applicants are Suzannah Stanley of Mackenzie and Jonathan Carder, and the owner is Bremen LLC.
  • A Type II design review is requested for exterior alterations to an office building at 11155 N.E. Halsey St., including a new wood deck, ramp and seating area, and the replacement of storefront entry doors. The applicant is Seth Moran of Michael Flowers Architect, and the owners are Kenneth Nelson and I&F Properties LLC.
  • A Type III design review is pending for Mill Creek Residential Trust’s proposed 16-story, 280-unit mixed-use residential development at 505 N.W. 14th Ave. The building will be L-shaped around a former firehouse building on the site, and will have ground-floor retail and 222 underground parking spaces. The proposal replaces a previous version of the project that was 12 stories and included demolition of a 103-year-old former firehouse It also replaces a warehouse building renovation/expansion previously approved by the Portland Design Commission on the northern half of the block. The applicant is Kurt Schultz of SERA Architects, and the owners are Robert Ames and James Puckett.
  • A Type II historic resource review is pending for modifications to a building at 828 S.W. First Ave. Proposed work includes moving the existing storefront entry forward to align with an existing storefront, which would add approximately 44 square feet and eliminate a recessed entry, changing the name of the building to Beardsley Building, installing a new elevator and adding a rooftop elevator penthouse, installing roof access and exit for maintenance, and adding a rooftop veranda-outdoor space of under 1,000 square feet. The applicant is Thomas Ellicot of Beardsley Building Development, and the owner is Fountain Village Development.
