Since it was founded in 2004 by Brent Parry and Mike Greenslade, Bremik Construction has grown to boast a portfolio of projects diverse in size, scope and location. The firm now occupies a reclaimed Central Eastside fire station that showcases the building process it used to make a name for itself – adaptive reuse.

Leaders at the company consider its 2008 completion of the $22 million White Stag Block renovation a major step forward in its ability to deliver. Today the firm has flags staked in markets including urban multifamily housing, commercial offices, tenant improvements, health care and education. A majority of Bremik’s work is procured through negotiated contracts, according to its marketing director, Alexi Meuwissen.

Canopy Hotel

Heavy work began recently on this 11-story, 91,000-square-foot boutique hotel in the Pearl District. The 153-room, Hilton-branded facility will include a ground-floor restaurant. The $30 million development will replace a home furnishing and antiques retail business. The project designer is ZGF Architects. Key subcontractors include TCM Corp., Stoner Electric Group, Viking Automatic Sprinkler, Skyline Sheet Metal and MB Structures. A Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design gold rating is being targeted for the project.

New Troutdale Elementary School

This $23.9 million, 72,000-square-foot project is part of the 2015 Reynolds School District bond program. A will be built where a playground and a sports field sat previously; the existing 90-year-old school will be demolished. BLRB Architects is the architect and Day CPM is the owner’s representative. Ground is expected to be broken in May 2017. Bremik was also selected to perform security upgrades for 13 of the district’s schools over the next two summers.

RH Gallery

Bremik will build a 44,000-square-foot retail gallery for in the Northwest 23rd Avenue commercial district. It will feature a one-level garage, a rooftop pavilion and an exterior deck with a bar. The $16.5 million building will replace Sammy’s Flowers and a Plaid Pantry store. Ankrom Moisan Architects is the project’s designer. Bremik is self-performing the structural concrete frame construction. Key subcontractors include Oregon Electric Group, HVAC Inc., Stewart Plumbing, Viking Automatic Sprinkler, Fred Shearer & Sons, Pacific Foundation, Westech Construction, McDonald & Wetle and Teufel Landscape.

Multnomah Village Apartments

This 77,000-square-foot multifamily housing project with ground-floor retail space was designed by SERA Architects. The $12 million building will replace a diagnostic and treatment program for children. At four stories, it will be the first building taller than three stories in the Multnomah Village neighborhood. Key subcontractors include M&M Excavating, Timberland Construction, Hard-Core Contractors, Crown Fire Systems, Tapani Plumbing, Jet Industries and Whiskey Hill Electric. The project is in the preconstruction phase.

9101 Foster

Bremik has the bid to build a four-story, 65,500-square-foot apartment building in for the Portland Development Commission. The $11.6 million development is planned on an empty, PDC-owned lot. Two-thirds of the residential units will be market-rate; one-third will be designated affordable. Hacker designed the U-shaped building to wrap around a central courtyard. The hiring goal for minority-owned, women-owned and emerging small businesses is 20 percent. Construction is expected to start this month and conclude next fall.

Sunset Center One remodel

Bremik crews are performing the $10 million, 77,000-square-foot tenant improvement to convert several office spaces in Kaiser Permanente’s three-story Sunset Center One building to medical use. The current medical tenants will relocate during the project.

Towne Storage renovation

Bremik will be the builder for the five-story, 108,600-square-foot Towne Storage creative office and retail project near the east end of the Burnside Bridge. The restoration of the 101-year-old building is being planned by LRS Architects. The structure previously held a paper mill, storage space and commercial offices. Phase I included interior demolition and seismic upgrades. Phase II, set to begin this month, will involve construction of the new penthouse, core and shell construction, envelope improvements, site work and restoration of the building’s water tower.
