  • Early assistance has been requested for a proposed 18-unit condo development at 5733 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The project would include 13 parking spaces with access from MLK Jr. Boulevard. The applicant is Jim Topoprek of Studio 3 Architecture in Salem. The owner is PDX Redevelopment LLC. The registered agent of that company is Jonathan Bennett of Portland, and the manager is Dan Grunewald of Wilsonville.
  • Early assistance has been requested to convert an existing warehouse at 8140 N. Commercial Ave. into a marijuana growing and sales facility. A new research and development building and outdoor marijuana growing areas are included. Also envisioned is a multistory mixed-use building. The property is a former auto wrecking yard. The applicant is Rahim Abbasi of Abbasi Design Works, and the owner is Raoul Calderon of West Linn.
  • Early assistance has been requested to discuss a proposal for a new four-story apartment building with 58 to 65 units at 1645 S.E. Nehalem St. in Sellwood. The structure would be the receiving building for affordable housing. The plan includes withdrawal of a previous proposal. The project is from Urban Development Group and Dennis Sackhoff.
  • Portland State University officials have asked for a pre-application conference to discuss a nine-story academic classroom and office building with ground-floor commercial use on Block 153 in downtown Portland. The applicant is PSU’s Jason Franklin. The property is owned by the Portland Development Commission.
  • A Type II review is pending for a four-story, 66-unit apartment complex with underground parking at 905 N. Marine Drive. The applicant is Seth Brown of PDG Construction Services in Gresham. The owner is Prima Donna Hotels of Los Altos, California. The property sold for $5.5 million in March 2016.
  • An early assistance request is pending to discuss the feasibility of building 10 single-family homes at 13208 N.E. Glisan St., in the Hazelwood neighborhood. Each home would have three bedrooms and a tuck-under garage. An existing home would remain. Zoning is R2 residential. The applicant is Michael Susak of Susak Properties. The owner is Ruth Bennett of Vancouver, Washington.
  • Early assistance is pending for a four-story, 28-unit apartment building at 5434 S.E. Milwaukie Ave. in Sellwood-Moreland. The developer is proposing to use community design standards. The applicant is Ralph Tahran of Tahran Architecture & Planning in Lake Oswego. The owner is Ten Bridges LLC, a company that lists Demian Heald of Portland as manager.
  • A historic resource review has been requested for voluntary seismic upgrades to the Jeanne Manor Apartments at 1431 S.W. Park Ave. The building, completed in 1931, is on the South Park Blocks. The applicant is Brian Emerick of Emerick Architects. The owner is Jeanne Manor Apartments LLC, which lists Walter W. McMonies Jr. as manager.
