People working in the architecture industry have a new tool to compare their salaries with others’ around the country. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has created a that compares salaries for nine U.S. regions. The organization released the calculator in conjunction with its .

New architects are making the most money in the Pacific region, according to the calculator. That region includes Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington. The median income in 2017 for a first-level licensed architect in one of those states is $72,910.

The Mid-Atlantic region including New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania ranks second for 2017, the AIA reported. There, the median income for a first-level licensed architect is $70,800.

The region with the lowest pay is the East South Central region, which includes Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee. In those states, the median income for a starting architect is $56,900.

Nationwide, the median income for first-level licensed architects this year is $66,070.
