  • Early assistance is sought for construction of 14 townhomes in five buildings at 1536 S.E. 50th Ave. The applicant is Joe Karman of Joseph A Karman Architects, and the owner is Ceanne Melkerson.
  • Early assistance is requested for construction of four townhomes in two buildings on a single lot at 4932 N.E. Thompson St. The applicant is Mike Coyle of Faster Permits, and the owners are Andrew and Shari Kerr.
  • Early assistance is sought for installation of new exterior windows and building envelope on an existing four-story low-income apartment building at 5845 N.E. Hoyt St. The project would also include refurbishment of existing steel balconies. The applicant is Spencer Deinard of LRS Architects, and the owner is Innovative Housing Inc.
  • Early assistance is pending for a proposed new structure covering a portion of the Adidas Village West Plaza, between two existing buildings identified on a site map as Buildings B and C, at 5055 N. Greeley Ave. A Type II design review with three modifications is expected. The applicant is Scott Barton-Smith of Hacker Architects, and the owner is Adidas Village Corporation.
  • A pre-application conference is pending for construction of a new four-story, 161-unit affordable workforce housing project in the Gateway Plan District at 9747 N.E. Glisan St. The applicant is Bill Lanning of MWA Architects, and the owner is Gateway Affordable LLC. Members of Gateway Affordable LLC include Walsh Construction Co. Vice President and Chief Financial Officer John Wied, co-founder and board chairman Robert Walsh, and an LLC registered to Matt Leeding, the firm’s president.
  • A pre-application conference is pending for the revision of conditional use and a possible street vacation at a church property, 7654 N. Delaware Ave. The applicant is Chris Hagerman of The Bookin Group LLC, and the owner is People of Praise Inc.
  • A public works inquiry is sought for multifamily housing development on a vacant parcel at Southeast 120th Avenue and Powell Boulevard. The applicant is Ellen Vanderslice, and the owners are Hau and Trinh Vu.
  • A Type II conditional use procedure is sought for an addition to Gateway Baptist Church at 13300 N.E. San Rafael St. An addition of 2,717 square feet is proposed for the existing 6,814-square-foot main church building, as well as removal of 15 parking spaces. The applicant is Ray Yancey of Myhre Group Architects, and the owner is Gateway Baptist Church.
  • A Type II design review is pending for installation of new siding and windows at a seven-building multifamily property at 9823 N.E. Glisan St. The applicant is Raphael Goodblatt of Ahha Architect Inc., and the owner is Mohammad Farhoud of Cape Manor Apartment Inc.
  • A Type II design review is pending for a proposal requesting a change in material and color of an existing secondary exterior wall finish to the Cook Street Apartments, a 206-unit mixed-use development completed last year at 107 N. Cook St. The finish, located above the podium level, would be changed to a horizontal ribbed metal panel due to finish and structural failure of existing stained hardwood ship lap siding. The applicant is Todd Knudson of LRS Architects, and the owner is BIR Cook Street LLC of Irvine, California. Boston-based Berkshire Group purchased the property in 2016 from Seattle-based developer Lake Union Partners for $69 million.
  • A Type III design review is sought for a new six-story U-Store Self Storage facility on a Pearl District lot bounded by Northwest 13th and 14th avenues, Thurman Street and Naito Parkway. The building would have storage on upper floors, with retail and office space on the ground floor and mezzanine levels. The applicant is Jeff Wright of MCA Architects, and the owner is Hoyt Street Properties.
  • A Type II design review with modifications is sought for improvements to the Jim Fisher Volvo showroom at 731 S.W. 21st Ave. Exterior improvements to the existing dealership building would include storefront modifications for a new entry, new entry canopies, conversion of a building entry into a public bus bench/shelter, adding translucent film to windows, and illuminated exterior signage. Site improvements would include non-conformance upgrades to an existing parking and car storage lot. The applicant is Alexander Lungershausen of Hennebery Eddy Architects, and the owner is West 21 LLC, which is registered to multiple members of the Fisher family.
  • A Type II design review with modifications is pending for Security Properties and Urban Renaissance Group’s two-building Press Blocks project in Goose Hollow, which was approved by the Portland Design Commission earlier this year. The applicants are Michelle Schulz and Annie Mahoney of GBD Architects, and the owner is URG OPB 17th Avenue LLC.
  • A Type III design review is pending for Graves Hospitality’s proposed 11-story, 175-room hotel building at 539 S.W. 10th Ave. The applicants are Pete Miller of DLR Group and Matthew Mering of Graves Hospitality, and the owner is Greg Goodman of L-63 LLC.
