The聽Daily Journal聽of聽Conference聽held its annual聽Women聽of聽Vision聽education and awards program聽Thursday evening at the聽Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront. The awards honor women who are shaping the built environment with their leadership, mentoring efforts, community involvement and promotion of industry diversity.
The conference featured keynote speaker Barbara A. Res, a construction professional with more than 40 years of experience as a superintendent, engineer, development executive and attorney. Res was tapped by Donald Trump and his then-wife, Ivana, to oversee construction of the Trump Tower in Manhattan in the early 1980s.
Following the keynote address, Res joined a panel discussion moderated by Lois Cohen of Lois D. Cohen Associates that included Danielle Outlaw, Portland鈥檚 chief of police; Jennifer Cooperman, the city鈥檚 chief financial officer; and Ashley Ulber, a civil engineering and construction engineering management student at Oregon State University.
The evening concluded with an awards ceremony honoring 51 Oregon and Southwest Washington women who are involved in architecture, engineering, construction and fields related to the building industry.
