Swinerton Builders is seeking subcontractors as it expands and upgrades the Ledding Library in Milwaukie.
Hacker designed the project, which is being managed by PlanB Consultancy. Hacker has designed libraries in Portland’s Woodstock and Hollywood neighborhoods, Beaverton and Bend, among other locations.

The existing library opened in 1965 as a replacement of a series of older, temporary libraries that dated back to 19th century. The project includes construction of new space and improvement of existing space totaling more than 18,000 square feet.
The building will have conventional footings and foundations, radiant slab on grade, wood-framed walls, and glu-lam columns and beams. The exterior façade will have prefabricated fiberglass windows, metal panels and flashing, and a single-ply roofing system.
Ground has been broken; demolition of an existing building and pad prep will be complete by the middle of November.
Competitive bids are being requested for concrete, concrete reinforcing, rough carpentry, casework, roofing, waterproofing, metal panels, doors, glazing, finishes, specialties and MEPF sub-bids. Bids are due by 2 p.m. on Nov. 15, either in person or electronically.
