• Design advice is sought for construction of a new five-story, 57,000-square-foot building with ground-floor retail space and office spaces on the upper floors on a parcel at the northwest corner of Southwest First Avenue and Pine Street. The site, part of Downtown Development Group’s Ankeny Blocks, currently is in use as a surface parking lot. The applicant is Justin Brooks of ZGF Architects, and the owner is L-126 LLC.

• The Portland Bureau of Transportation is seeking pre-application conferences for two bicycle/pedestrian bridges. Sullivan’s Crossing will span Interstate 84 and Union Pacific Railroad tracks, linking the Central Eastside Industrial District and Lloyd along the Northeast Seventh Avenue alignment. will span Interstate 405, linking the Northwest and Pearl districts along the Northwest Flanders Street alignment. The applicant for Sullivan’s Crossing is Dan Layden, and the applicant for Flanders Crossing is Nicole Pierce.

• A Type II design review is sought for the remodel of an existing McDonald’s restaurant at 1520 N.E. Grand Ave. with a new mansard roof, addition of a second order point at the drive-thru, new paint and accent walls. The applicant is Jennette Berta of Bellevue, Washington-based Freiheit Architecture, and the owner is Columbus, Ohio-based Kalberer Company.

• A Type II design review is pending for installation of a freestanding sign at the north entry of Portland State University’s Peter Stott Center at 1875 S.W. Park Ave. The sign would be installed in the terrace space outside the building’s entry doors and measure greater than 20 square feet. The applicant is Jonathan Bolch of Woofter Architecture, and the owner is the Oregon State Board of Higher Education.

• A Type III historic landmark procedure is pending for designation of the Alberta Abbey, a former church at 126 N.E. Alberta St., as a historic landmark. The applicant is Ian Flood of MWA Architects, and the owner is Alberta Abbey LLC of Newport Beach, California.
