Building permits issued for Jan. 21-27

• A $6,600,000 addition permit was issued for the renovation of the Hotel Chamberlain at 509 S.E. Grand Ave. The project will include a seismic retrofit and a major remodel of the entire building. The applicant is Nicholas Locke of Works Progress Architecture, and the owner is Hotel Chamberlain LLC.

• A $30,000,000 addition permit is under inspection for the new OHSU Elks Children’s Eye Clinic at the Casey Eye Institute at 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road. The 62,000-square-foot building will have five stories and a mechanical penthouse. The applicant is Carl Tully of Seattle-based NBBJ, the contractor is Skanska USA Building Inc., and the owner is the state of Oregon. Two additional permits issued for the project include one valued at $162,512, for the connection from the new building to the existing Casey Eye Institute, and another valued at $213,832, for the expansion of the existing connection between the Casey Eye Institute and a parking garage.

• A $500,000 alteration permit was issued for the replacement of water and drainage piping and plumbing fixtures at a factory/industrial building at 7201 N.E. Alderwood Road. The applicant is Ernesto Miranda of Dallas, Texas-based Magellan Architects, and the owner is Port of Portland (Leased Sky Chefs Inc). A contractor for the project is not listed.

• An $880,313 new construction permit was issued for a three-story, 12-unit apartment building at 6011 S.E. 90th Ave. The applicant is Ronnie Wilson of Wilson Co. Inc., and the contractor and owner is Wilson Company Contractors LLC.

• An $868,000 new construction permit was issued on deferred submittal for post-tensioned cables on levels five through 18 of the 5 MLK building under construction at 5 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The applicant is Mark Sawallich of contractor Hoffman Construction, and the owner is 5 MLK RPO LLC.

• A $500,000 new construction permit was issued on deferred submittal for storefront systems on a parking garage under construction as part of the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center project at 1075 N.E. Second Ave. The applicant is Jeff Mashos of Encore Glass, the contractor is MA Mortenson Company, and the owner is Prosper Portland.

Building permit intakes for Jan. 21-27

• Three new construction permits with a combined value of $1,459,133 are under review for a new three-building apartment project at 408 S.E. 105th Ave. One building will contain two units on two stories, one will have six units on three stories, and a third will have five units and a community room on three stories. The applicant is Daryl Retzlaff of contractor Evergreen Builders, and the owner is Joe Westerman.

Facility permits issued for Jan. 21-27

• A $1,965,000 alteration permit was issued for a tenant improvement for exterior work to a warehouse building at 2455 N.W. Nicolai St. The applicant is Mandi Jenks of Lower Columbia Engineering, the contractor is Cornice Construction, and the owner is Rosan Inc.

• A $2,000,000 alteration permit was issued for a tenant improvement for Mahlum Architects on the ground floor of the Custom Blocks building at 1380 S.E. Ninth Ave. The applicant is Roseanne Lynch of Mahlum Architects, the contractor is Perlo Construction, and the owner is Premium Property – CSNS LLC.

• A $2,588,256 alteration permit was issued for a ground-level tenant improvement at the Columbia Square building at 111 S.W. Columbia St. The applicant is Erica Thompson of Hennebery Eddy Architects, the contractor is Turner Construction Company, and the owner is Columbia Square LLC.

Facility permit intakes for Jan. 21-27

• A $1,000,000 alteration permit sought on deferred submittal is under review for exterior curtainwall, a retrofit of the main entrance, mullions and glazing on floors one through three, 14, 15, and the basement of the Portland Building at 1120 S.W. Fifth Ave. The applicant is Chris Ulrich of Bensen Industries, the contractor is Balfour Beatty Construction, and the owner is the city of Portland.

• A $600,000 alteration permit is under review for a Formula 3 fitness training space on the ground floor of the Field Office building at 1895 N.W. Front Ave. The applicant is Noah Rolland of Pleasanton, California-based Leisure Sports Inc., the contractor is Lease Crutcher Lewis, and the owner is Park Office LLC of Washington, D.C.

• A $900,000 alteration permit is under review for installation of high-pile storage racking at 16913 N.E. Cameron Blvd. The applicant is Alan Orriny, the contractor is United Installation Services of Perris, California, and the owner is CPUS Cameron LP of Addison, Texas.
