The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries has hired Sonia Ramirez as its wage and hour division administrator. She will contribute to enforcement of state laws governing wages, benefits and some working conditions, and oversee prevailing wage determinations and enforcement. She also will uphold standards for farm, forest, construction and property services contractors as well as child labor certifications. Currently, Ramirez is the government affairs director for NABTU (North America’s Building Trades Unions). She has worked a total of 16 years for the national labor movement and for two members of Congress.
