Building permits issued for Sept. 30-Oct. 6

  • A $29,091,580 addition permit was issued for structural and civil scope, to include all under-slab piping and conduit, on the modernization of Madison High School at 2735 N.E. 82nd Ave. The applicant is Randall Heeb of Opsis Architecture, the contractor is Fortis Construction, and the owner is School District No. 1.
  • A $6,611,532 alteration permit was issued for the renovation of the Portland Marriott City Center hotel at 520 S.W. Broadway. The project will include replacement of exterior canopy cladding, replacement of interior stairs on the main level, reconfiguration of walls, and conversion of existing suites to add seven units. The applicant is Kyle Emery of SERA Architects, the contractor is FDR Construction Inc. of Vista, California, and the owner is Broadway & Washington Condominium Owners Association of Atlanta, Georgia.
  • A $711,000 new construction permit was issued on deferred submittal for exterior storefront and terrace doors on the 5 MLK project under construction at 5 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The applicant is Mark Sawallich of contractor Hoffman Construction Co., and the owner is 5 MLK ROP LLC.
  • A $35,026,000 new construction permit is under inspection for Saltwood South, a six-story, 177-unit apartment building with one level of below-grade parking at 2050 N.W. Raleigh St. The project is part of a two-building development by Cairn Pacific in the Con-way Master Plan area. The applicant is Katalin Czege of SERA Architects, the contractor is Bremik Construction, and the owner is PREG NW Portland LLC of San Mateo, California.
  • A $1,400,000 new construction permit was issued for a three-story, 12-unit apartment building at 6580 N. Greenwich Ave. The applicant is Dan Williams of Faster Permits, the owners are Russell Hosner, Christopher Elsenbach, and the Vicki Elsenbach Revocable Living Trust. The primary contractor is out to bid.
  • A $32,784,000 new construction permit was issued for a new 21-story, 250-room hotel at 245 S.W. Salmon St. The Hyatt Unbound hotel will occupy a 3/8-block parcel, part of the nearly full-block development that also includes a 10-story office building. The applicant is Brad Bane of Ankrom Moisan Architects, the contractor is Turner Construction Co., and the owner is Third & Taylor Hotel Investment LLC.

  • A $3,008.097 addition permit is under review for a voluntary seismic upgrade and core-and-shell improvements to a at 1017 S.W. Washington St. The applicant is Kathy Johnson of Jones Architecture, the contractor is R&H Construction, and the owner is Talon Fliedner QOZB LLC of Bellevue, Washington.
  • A $1,100,000 new construction permit is under review for a three-story, 16-unit apartment building at 5308 S.E. 18th Ave. The applicant is Steve Fosler of Fosler Portland Architecture, the owners are Karen and Glenn Bridger, and the primary contractor is out to bid.
  • A $500,000 new construction permit is under review for shoring and a mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall at 1720 S.W. Naito Parkway to accommodate horizontal directional drilling and probing for the Willamette River Crossing water main project. The applicant is Nolan Furey of contractor James W. Fowler Co., and the owner is Portland Parks & Recreation.

Facility permits issued for Sept. 30-Oct. 6

  • A $1,663,675 alteration permit was issued for a tenant improvement for WeWork on three levels of the Oregon Square building at 830 N.E. Holladay. The applicant is Ryan Pickrel of Faster Permits, the contractor is Turner Construction Co., and the owner is AAT Lloyd District LLC of San Diego, California. A $475,000 mechanical alteration permit was also issued for the project; the contractor is Piper Mechanical Inc.
  • A $1,782,000 alteration permit was issued for a digestive health clinic tenant improvement at 4805 N.E. Glisan St. The applicant is Joe Webb of owner Providence Health Systems-Oregon, and the contractor is Fortis Construction.
  • A $545,000 alteration permit was issued for a tenant improvement for the Orbit Café at the Oregon Convention Center, at 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The applicant is Dan Hoskin of owner Metro, and the contractor is Portland Commercial Construction. A $380,000 mechanical alteration permit was also issued for the project; the contractor is HVAC Inc.
  • A $550,000 alteration permit was issued for a tenant improvement for Celestica at a building at 4251 N.E. 185th Drive. The applicant is Connor Leines of Mackenzie, the contractor is Turner Construction Co., and the owner is Colfin 2019-2B Industrial Owner LLC of Los Angeles. A $250,000 mechanical alteration permit was also issued for the project; the contractor is American Heating Inc.
  • A $980,000 multiple dwellings/single lot improvement permit was issued for site improvements to include grading, landscaping, driveways and curb cuts at 13 N.E. Morris St. The applicant is Kendra Duong of Kendra Carson Duong Architect, the contractor is John Gray Design, and the owner is Baileywick Properties II LLC.

Facility permit intakes for Sept. 30-Oct. 6

  • A $1,096,168 alteration permit is under review for demolition work on all floors of the former Gladys McCoy Building at 408 S.W. Fifth Ave. The building is the former headquarters of the Multnomah County Health Department, and is being renamed the J.K. Gill Building, after the original occupant, by new owners Urban Renaissance Group and Gaw Capital USA. The applicant is Nicole Holt of SERA Architects, the contractor is Fortis Construction, and the owner is 408 5th Ave Portland Propco LLC.
  • A $700,000 alteration permit is under review for a tenant improvement for One Medical at the Peloton building at 4141 N. Williams Ave. The applicant is Nathan Arnold of Faster Permits, and the owner is Spaig North Williams LLC of Seattle. The primary contractor is out to bid.
