Homebuilding giant Home Corp. plans to expand aggressively in Oregon following its acquisition of William Lyon Homes, an executive said.

Taylor Morrison will become the fifth-largest homebuilder after the $2.4 billion purchase closes, according to the company, with $6.7 billion in annual revenue and a portfolio of 83,000 lots.

The company’s largest assets in Oregon are single-family lots in Bethany and Villebois in Wilsonville.

The deal adds three major markets for Taylor Morrison in Portland, Seattle and Las Vegas, CEO Sheryl Palmer said.

“The West Coast markets were a key part of the strategic rationale for this transaction,” she said.

Portland scores well on a number of economic indicators, Palmer said.

Taylor Morrison also has experience in highly regulated markets like Oregon cities, with their urban growth boundaries, Palmer said.

“When you look at a supply-constrained market, it is very difficult, and we work in a number of markets where I would say that,” she said.

Townhomes in Bethany or Villebois may be available for less than $300,000. Prices for single-family homes range from the $300,000s to $600,000s.

Taylor Morrison is based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
