Door opens to more permitting services in Portland

Portland’s Bureau of Development Services is slowly expanding the services it’s offering while closed for walk-in submissions of permit applications.
The bureau on Monday began accepting permit applications for residential alterations and additions. BDS will also accept applications for new construction of accessory structures, such as sheds or garages.
BDS will set appointments for submissions of plans electronically. To schedule an appointment (one permit per appointment), customers may email [email protected]聽or call 503-823-7300 and leave a message.
The bureau is accepting new permit applications by appointment for a range of projects. Priority is based on tiers, with health care projects in the first tier, projects under construction in the second tier, affordable housing projects in the third tier, etc. There are six tiers in all.
