A pre-application conference is pending for construction of a new eight-story mixed-use building on a portion of a half-block site at 1006 S.E. Grand Ave. The site currently includes a 113-year-old office building on the western portion of the block, and a surface parking lot and a single-story building on the block’s eastern portion. The non-contributing single-story building would be removed for the new building, which would occupy the block’s eastern half. The applicant is Nate Ember of Ink:Built Architecture, and the owner is Arcoa Partners LLC.
A Type II design review is sought for proposed revisions to a previously approved design review of a 21-story hotel at 245 S.W. Salmon St. The building will include 250 guest rooms, a ballroom, a conference center, a fitness center, a ground-floor restaurant, a bar/market, and a rooftop bar. It is proposed for a 3/8-block site that formerly included the Hotel Albion building, which has since been demolished. The original design of the 250-room hotel, created by Ankrom Moisan Architects for developers Jack Onder and Jeff Arthur, was approved by the Portland Design Commission in 2016. The applicant is Brad Bane of Ankrom Moisan Architects, and the owner is Urban Portland Downtown Hotel Company LLC of New Orleans. The limited liability company, which purchased the property in 2017 for $6.15 million, is registered to the address of HRI Properties.
