Ebony Amato-Blackmon comes to NAMC-Oregon with more than 20 years of experience as a banker, manager and public affairs liaison in an industry that is dynamic, innovative, and thriving.

As the new Program Manager, she is particularly interested in working to improve and build upon the association鈥檚 technical training for members and clients by implementing programs guided by her passion for education, real estate, building rapport and closing the deal.

In her previous roles, Amato-Blackmon has been directly responsible for managing communications and relationships throughout a federal agency in both the finance and power business lines at Bonneville Power Administration and in the private sector.

She also has been active in educating and teaching small business classes at Portland Community College, Warner Pacific College and Portland State University.

Program Coordinator James Cador brings a lot of energy and a new perspective to the work of organizational communication and policy analysis.

In his previous roles, Cador served as the field director for Sam Adams鈥� race for City Council in 2020, focused on developing detailed policies on housing, transportation and homelessness as well as getting young people out to vote.

He also worked at the Portland Bureau of Transportation as a project support specialist and for a limited time as an intern in Mayor Ted Wheeler鈥檚 office, supporting community outreach efforts, data analysis, and project budget and schedule analysis to effectively assist on project delivery.

Cador, who grew up in Portland, said he learned about NAMC-Oregon from his father, Windol Cador, a NAMC member and former general contractor.
鈥淲hen we were kids if we didn鈥檛 go to camp we were at the jobsite with dad, so we had a knowledge of NAMC and construction pretty early on,鈥� he said. 鈥淲hat I appreciate about NAMC is how interconnected it is within the community. It seems like everyone I talk to knows my dad or went to school with my mom. It鈥檚 a really important organization that works within the community to provide the resources that have historically been denied to us for years.鈥�

Cador鈥檚 mother, Kira, is a real estate developer who owns Rembold Properties with his aunt, Kali Bader. He said he learned much from his father as a Black businessman and just as much from his mother.

鈥淪he was often the only woman in the room during development meetings, which is an alpha-male industry. It鈥檚 a valuable education that I would not have gotten in any other way,鈥� he said. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited about doing something where I can work to empower my community and give back to the community that raised me.鈥�

Executive Director Nate McCoy noted that NAMC-Oregon 鈥渋s thrilled to add these talented individuals to support and assist our collection of progressive-minded and highly skilled design and construction professionals, and they will strive to be a resource to the organizational goals and mission.
