Waste Management became a NAMC-Oregon partner in August for three reasons, the first of which is to help the association鈥檚 members grow their businesses.

Waste Management has a special team dedicated to the construction industry, allowing the company to fast track projects, start to finish, with no surprises. The WM team provides job site management, including sustainability services needed to achieve compliance for recycling, LEED certification, waste data tracking and monitoring.

鈥淓very day in Oregon, we鈥檙e servicing contractors with roll off containers, hauling services and logistics management.

We also have the expertise to safely manage hazardous waste and special wastes including asbestos containing material,鈥 Kampfer said.

The second reason Waste Management became a NAMC-Oregon partner is because the company is committed to increasing diversity within its network of suppliers and vendors. It is actively working to add businesses owned by minorities, women and military veterans as suppliers and vendors.

鈥淲e鈥檇 like to get to know more NAMC members and bring them on as official WM vendors, as opportunities arise,鈥 Kampfer said.

Another way the company is achieving diversity is through the WM Vendor Inclusion and Diversity Program, which assists minority-owned and small disadvantaged businesses and provides the support they need to participate in Waste Management鈥檚 bid process.

The third reason the company became a NAMC-Oregon partner is because company leaders and employees want to do their part to make Oregon a safe, inclusive and welcoming place to live and work for everyone.

鈥淲aste Management has a track record in Oregon as a strong local employer, environmental steward and community partner. We provide more than 500 middle-wage and management jobs here, complete with generous benefits, because we believe in taking good care of our people,鈥 Kampfer said.

鈥淲e鈥檝e also nurtured long-standing partnerships with community organizations that are effectively fostering equity, economic opportunity and community prosperity,鈥 he added. 鈥淲aste Management鈥檚 support for NAMC is an extension of our companywide commitment to support diversity, equity and inclusion.鈥

Waste Management is the leading provider of recycling and garbage collection, transfer and disposal in the Pacific Northwest and North America. In Oregon, it provides sustainability solutions for the construction industry as well as for residential, commercial and industrial customers. It also uses waste to generate renewable energy, providing enough electricity to power 15,000 homes in Oregon and Washington and more than a million homes across North America.
