The Daily Journal of Commerce has named the 106 finalists for the 2021 TopProjects awards competition recognizing the most outstanding projects completed last year in the Pacific Northwest. Category winners and the overarching project of the year will be announced in-person on Thursday, September 9th, the 91ÊÓƵ’s first live event since the pandemic.
Now in its 24th year, TopProjects has become the premier awards competition across the region’s built environment. This year’s class includes projects spanning 17 different categories. It highlights the outstanding work completed through a truly unprecedented year, ultimately supplying our region with the essential buildings and infrastructure we rely on.
“Once I read through the powerful nominations, it solidified my feeling that TopProjects is the right event to get back in the swing of live events,” said 91ÊÓƵ Publisher Nick Bjork. “Through supply chain disruptions, workplace safety protocols and project schedule barriers, the building industry came together and completed some of the most outstanding work I’ve seen in the 12 years I’ve been with the organization.”
Bjork added that there will be an option to attend the event in-person or virtually through a live stream. The team is working with two event timelines in case the COVID-19 pandemic forces the switch to an all-virtual format. As always, he added, 91ÊÓƵ will look toward CDC, state and local guidance for event safety protocols.
The 106 projects will now move onto the judging phase, where ten industry leaders will determine the top three projects in each category, the TopProjects Project of the Year and several smaller awards for outstanding work. Attendees will also have a chance to make the selection of the TopProjects People’s Choice award through real-time voting.
The event will take place on Thursday, September 9th, 2021 from 4:30 to 7:30 PM at the Oregon Convention Center (777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR 97232) in the Oregon Ballroom. In-person tickets will start at $125 with a $50 virtual viewing option. Food and drinks will be provided to in-person attendees. Sponsorships for the event will start at $1,795.
