An employee of a Portland contractor died on Monday after being pinned between a tree and a truck being operated by a co-worker.

Northwest Scaffold Service Inc. is the company involved, according to Oregon OSHA.

The crash happened just after 1 p.m. at the intersection of Northwest 23rd Avenue and Everett Street, according to the Portland Police Bureau. The victim was helping the driver park their work truck when the former became caught between the rear of the truck and a large tree, PPB stated.

A passing AMR ambulance driver witnessed the incident and immediately began rendering assistance, according to PPB. Police officers responded to the crash, where they found CPR being performed, and immediately began assisting. The worker died at the scene.

In response to a fatality occurring in the incident, Oregon OSHA has opened an investigation, a representative of the agency said.
