Project manager at Swinerton Builders

Elizabeth Litzenberger Van Rossen has worked on several complicated projects that include the First Tech Credit Union, the largest mass timber project in the country at the time of construction; a historical renovation of the Yeon Building in Portland; and the Chemeketa Agricultural Complex in Salem.

Her biggest accomplishment since joining Swinerton five years ago was the demo and construction of the new Milwaukie Ledding Library. Throughout the design phase, Van Rossen participated in community events and council meetings. During construction, she oversaw day-to-day cost control, submittal control, contract administration and overall team communication.

Van Rossen is a graduate of Portland Business Alliance鈥檚 Leadership Portland Class of 2020 and, as a member of Urban Land Institute鈥檚 Young Leaders Board, helps to foster community engagement. She managed Swinerton鈥檚 involvement in Canstruction, a fundraiser in which the AEC industry donates to the Oregon Food Bank, and she volunteers with Rebuilding Together.

A Mentor Captain with ACE Mentor Program of Oregon, Van Rossen organized a 10-week syllabus and managed groups of high school students and volunteering professionals to educate students about career possibilities. During the sessions, students work in teams under a mentor through hands-on, project-based career learning.

Bobby Jennings, Swinerton鈥檚 Portland division manager, noted that Van Rossen鈥檚 mentorship extends to colleagues new to the industry.

鈥淟iz always finds time to help teach and mentor project engineers even if she is not working directly on the same project, whether it鈥檚 related to project management, material procurement or sustainability-related items,鈥� he said.
